October 26

Thank you to everyone who came for parent conferences this evening!  If you could not make it, please contact your child’s teacher to set-up a time to meet.  Teachers are typically available during their planning period on Mondays, Wednesdays, and/or Fridays and many days after-school by appointment.

Don’t forget that the extended school day (dismissal starting at 2:45 pm) will continue until November 30 with the exception of October 31.  Dismissal will begin at 2:25 pm that day.

Next week is also Red Ribbon Week.  Here is the information shared the other week about the various dress up days.   Red Ribbon Week  For Friday, please remember that teaching and learning will still be taking place so outfits should be appropriate for recess/PE and shouldn’t require a mask.

The first LRE Principal’s Advisory Council meeting will be on Monday, October 30 at 4:00 pm in the media center.  Learn more about the council and view the agenda at: http://www.laurelridgees.dekalb.k12.ga.us/SchoolCouncilMembers.aspx

In courier today everyone should have received their child’s MAP scores.  The quick reference guide was included with the materials and can be found at: MAP Quick Reference  You can learn more about the MAP assessment at: https://www.nwea.org/parent-toolkit/

Students should also receive or will soon receive their Keyboarding without Tears login on a label placed either in their agenda or communication folder. LRE purchases a subscription for this program to give students the ability to practice their keyboarding skills both at school and at home.  This is an important skill as teachers begin integrating technology into the classroom and more assessments are taken online.  All 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will be taking the Milestones assessment online this year!  The web address for the program is: dekalb-schools.kwtears.com

If you haven’t already, mark your calendar for the LRE Fall Festival!  This is Laurel Ridge’s 60 year anniversary and we cannot wait to celebrate with you!  Our Fall Festival is packed with activities for families, neighbors and friends during this rain or shine event.  Enjoy the book fair, laser tag, a trackless train, crafts, face painting, inflatables, and more! Join us to play, shop, and eat for an afternoon of fun.  You may find all the details, including how to pre-purchase your tickets and volunteer at http://www.laurelridgeelementarypta.org/
